SHOWS
I have created two 60 minute theatre shows and a one act piece based upon this new hybrid of live performance where text, movement and music work in and amongst each other to further the dramatic ends of the piece. I'm still into narrative but not in a linear way and the differing performing styles - singing/modern dance/storytelling etc., reflect my perception of the complexity and inter-connectness of life.
BEDROOM STORIES (2009)
A cow escapes from the slaughterhouse, a jealous lover struggles with the exes, an office worker moonlights as a sleepwalking poet... From the intimacy of the bedroom, emerge these three darkly humorous stories, innovatively told in a physical and vividly imaginative way, that interweaves live and pre-recorded music with movement and a lyrical text.

ROBINSON CRUSOE - ALL WASHED UP (2008)
Using this well known story as the backbone for this piece of total theatre - incorporating theatrical elements such as music, dance, song, spectacle and special effects, Rougier creates imaginative and beautiful imagery as part of an engaging and witty commentary on what it's like to be alone. The songs are accompanied by an accordion; the action by an enormous blue sheet.

THE DESCENT OF MAN (2007)
The Descent of Man: A tragicomic operetta in two acts and thirty minutes by a man in a dress playing an accordion. Performed in 2007 at Guilfest, Greenroom (Manchester), Komedia (Brighton), Die Scheinbar (Berlin) and other venues in England and Germany. A continuous piece of musical entertainment, the piece reflected the difference between modern, urban male with - perhaps, a more realistic image of a basic, jealous, pathetic and passionate one. An autobiographical work, I no longer perform it. It's too painful and the dress too sweaty. Nice.
