Biography

Version 1: 'Groove-driven jazz pop played out in a theatrical style on a pumped-up accordion by a man that likes to move.'

Fergus sees himself as a contemporary Song-and-Dance Man. His songs are stories accompanied by stylised movement to create a theatrical effect. He has performed extensively around London, Manchester and Brighton and when living in Germany, Berlin and Hamburg. He has played return gigs to Amsterdam and Copenhagen and is looking forward to another tour of Japan after a 3 month summer theatre tour of North America. Filmed as part of a BBC TV documentary, reviewed on ITV's London news and extensively in the press, this is one-man music theatre.

Fergus Rougier is an interdisciplinary performing artist currently living in London and studying Physical Theatre.  Having achieved considerable success as a sound artist and sound designer, (specialising in the creation of interactive sound and light installations), he is now concentrating on ‘theatrical art’ - combining his extensive experience in musical composition with a burgeoning technique and understanding of physical theatre. He moved to Berlin in 2006 to concentrate on musical performance and has returned with a surreal, satirical and unique performing style best described as 'one-man music theatre.'

Version 2:  Fergus was writing music even before he was born, (apparently), tapping out complex poly rhythms in the womb. It came as no surprise that he should develop into a child prodigy performing around the world in sold-out venues by the age of 7. Nor was it a surprise that in his early teens, in craving a different direction, he should sack his manager, go 'kiddy-raunchy' and quickly lose his audience. Lurid tabloid stories, drug abuse, rehab, 'enlightenment trips' to India, lavish spending, homelessness etc. all led Fergus into an accountancy job by his early 20's. Tired of the fame, celebrity and the magic of music, the mundanity of everyday living appealed to him - for about a week. So here we are now; an ever youthful 25, back in the biz, living in denial.
