BEDROOM STORIES

Bedroom Stories is a trilogy of three dramatic pieces. The pieces - described as:
- An office worker runs away from his shadow
- A jealous lover struggles with the exes
- A cow escapes from the slaughterhouse
can be seen either as a whole or individually. All are set within a bedroom but not the same bedroom. It is an intimate setting and potential witness to some notable events in our life: conception, birth, role-play, love-making, dreaming and death... and then, life!
"It is the bedroom as a place for fantasy that so attracts me as a Performing Artist. In particular, the juxtaposition between where you want to be/where your subconscious takes you and where you are - now."
These three, darkly humorous pieces exist in a time between waking life and sleep, the past and the future. Working within this in-between space, the Performer hopes to create many moments that will resonate with the audience - triggering thoughts via association, rather than telling stories that have a concrete meaning.
What might you expect to experience then? The Pieces are a mixture of realistic acting with dream sequences and thoughts made visible. This latter, more abstract side of storytelling is embodied through stylised movement that draws its inspiration from contemporary dance, mime and clowning. This 'theatre that dances' plays off against a contemporary soundtrack that has been specifically composed.
