ABOUT

Fergus is a multi-disciplinary, solo performer.  His practice explores the expressive possibilities of text, music and movement  - in combination and in juxtaposition. His work can be see at spoken word, cabaret, burlesque and dance events but can best be categorised as:

THEATRICAL ENTERTAINMENT: Everything else...  highly visual, parodic pieses that draw their references from burlesque, physical theatre, live art and modern dance.  These theatrical pieces of entertainment can end up in SHOWS or VIDEOS.

His work is playful.

 

BIOGRAPHY

Whilst learning to play the accordion, Fergus worked as a sound artist creating interactive public sound art for organisations  such as Tate Modern, Land Securities, The Open University, and Sustrans.

 

combined with his satirical cabaret act that he has performed in over a dozen countries, (including venues such as Turnmills, Bistrotheque, The Cobden Club, The Spitz, Komedia). Through training with the leading practitioners in physical storytelling, corporeal mime, butoh and dance theatre, he has combined the form and content of his art and performance work into a new hybrid in live performance.

He has created two feature length theatre shows that toured festivals in the UK, USA and Canada.  More on these shows HERE. 

He has also composed a number of works/been interviewed for radio (LBC, ResonanceFM, Virgin Radio etc.) as well as been featured on television, (ITV's London Tonight, BBC news, BBC2 "Singing with the Enemy"), and covered in the press. He has released a total of six albums that have sold through specialist art retailers (Tate Modern, ICA, Serpentine), and extensively online.
